to report your arrival, especially at an airport or hotel, so that you can get the service you are paying for (làm thủ tục nhập cảnh (sân bay), thủ tục nhận phòng (khách sạn))
We had to queue for ages to get checked in for entering the country.
The couple tried checking in to three different hotels, but they were all full.
